Thank you to the many folks who came out Monday to hear Father Charles share his journey to the Catholic faith and Priesthood.

Born and raised in a non-Catholic household, like many young people, Father Charles drifted away from God and religion. After many years of searching for happiness, and not finding it, he realized the reason he couldn’t find happiness was because he didn’t have God in his life.

His search began … prayer, studying scripture, asking questions, searching for the truth.

Ever the sceptic about the Catholic faith he questioned everything about our Catholic faith until he understood why we believed what we believe and why we do what we do to honor and glory our Lord and Savior.

Father Charles reminded us how easy it is to take our faith for granted, especially those of us cradle Catholics who were never without it and have never asked why we have it.

The Catholic faith is rich in history and tradition.

Scripture tells us that Jesus gave the apostle Peter the “Keys of the Kingdom”. Those keys have been handed down for over 2000 years from one pope to the next. It is this 2000+ years of Apostolic succession, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, that guides the Church that Jesus founded; our Catholic church.

It is a gift! Through the sacraments of the Church, which Jesus instituted, we have the opportunity to receive God’s grace. Through the Eucharist, we receive the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus, Christ. It is a real tangible way for us to get to know Jesus and make him a part of us; to help us know, love, and serve Him, and to make Jesus Christ known and visible to others.

Father Charles will be giving us insights into our Catholic faith on the last Monday of every month in the parish center hall at 7:00pm. Due to the parish mission scheduled for the last week of October, his next presentation will be Monday, November 24th. Watch the Luminary for more details.

You can purchase a CD recording of this presentation in the parish center office for a donation of $5.00.

For all that has been, for all that will be, Thanks be to God!
